This week I have a behind-the-scenes on my latest painting for you.
I was asked to create the cover of an AMAZING life-changing book (more on that as soon as it is published and available to the public!!!)
It’s about how we weave and intersect and dance our way through our interactions with others during our time on planet earth, and how we can use this spiraling flow to enhance our connection to others and move through our journey more effortlessly!
Our lives are quite literally, the dance of sacred geometry
as we spiral through time and space.
Spirals are something I paint into almost every single piece of artwork I create.
Because the sacred geometry of our spiraling DNA echoes out throughout nature both microscopically and macroscopically… from the pattern of waves in the ocean to natures design on pine-cones and seashells, throughout our bodies from our inner ear cochlea through our body’s neurology and outward… through the orbits of the planetary dance or our solar system across our Universe and beyond.
So it was a natural fit for me to paint the spiraling journey of our life’s orbit.
Here is what I came up with.
I hope you love it!
Step 1: Sketch the rough design on a canvas:
Step 2: Paint in a background of space:
Step 3: Add a moon and paint a spiraling effect
of planetary movement around each:
Step 4 (and 5, 6, 7 and 8!):
Add dots of white for stars and follow them up with pink and lavender and violet halos,
as well as varying shades of purples and blues in the spaces between:
Step 9: Fill in the background of the earth with blue:
So here’s what you’ve got so far…
Step 10: Dip toothbrush into thin white paint and flick bristles
to add small stars and star clusters across the canvas:
Step 11: Go back with deep indigo, black, midnight blue, violet
to fill in depth and add dark spots between star clusters:
Step 12: Add more white halos around larger white star groupings:
Step 13: Fill in planet earth with land!
Step 14: Add spiraling soul journey tracks leading up to, dancing upon,
and then leaving planet earth: a glorious life span.
Being born and allowed to experience physical reality,
and then to ultimately leave to journey forward and beyond…
that’s the honor and the preciousness of our human condition.
