Positive Parenting

What I’ve been up to lately…

I’ve been doing a lot of writing…     … sketching…     … and painting …     … for my second children’s book! It’s the third one I’ve illustrated, but the second one I’ve written and illustrated entirely. Published by Do Life Right Publishing, I’m really excited to have this book wrapped up and out soon! It’s a sweet, gently, beautiful book about the power of sleep and the soul connections we make as a family. I love it and I live it and I breathe it. And I need a little more time each day […]

Thoughts on Health… Fish Oil effective treatment for ADHD

My two sweetie pie children at the beach. Okay, this may be a stretch to include in the fish oil post, but hey… you know there are fish in this pic… and what else am I gonna use as a visual?   I feel like I am trapped in backwards world.   Honestly. We’ve known for quite a while that Omega 3 fatty acids are absolutely fabulous for the body… especially the brain… so you’d think this study, which shows Omega 3 supplementation is an effective treatment for ADHD, is no big surprise to the medical community.  Wrong. Fish

Rainbow craft goodness

Last week, my children and I had fun working on a project I had seen all over the bloggersphere… in too many places to even credit (just google crayon art) it is all over Pinterest, StumbledUpon, and blogs galore.     Miles and Clara did an amazing job on theirs… so good I just have to frame and hang them! I just love these… somehow they combine the spirit of childhood with freedom and flow… melting crayons into something new, each one totally unique… it is just pure fun.   If you want to create your own this weekend,

Happy Labor Day!

I have one of the most amazing friends in the world, Barbara Rivera… creator and innovator of Birth Power. I think she is brilliant. She has so much passion for birthing… and she wants every girl in the world today to grow up with positive birthing images… positive birth stories… infused with the knowledge that giving birth is natural, glorious, and wonderful.   Ever since birth has been made into a clinically sterile and even negative event by the media and medical professionals, it has become harder and harder for our young children to grow up in a world where

Lessons from my kids… Intention

For some reason, my kids decided one day that they wanted to cook dinner for us. They’ve never cooked anything before… and they didn’t want me in the room AT ALL. Yikes! Stoves! Ovens! Knives! But I said yes, trusting that they would come to me for help if they needed anything, anything at all, and knowing I would be listening intently from the next room. I started giving them kid-friendly cook books and ideas, which they promptly rejected, grabbing instead all of my adult cookbooks and running off to plan. Wouldn’t even tell me what they were making,

Favorite Children’s Books

I was going through our old stash of children’s books… organizing our bookshelves… and I found myself lost in a daze of the sweet sweet memories of reading picture books to my children. Oh how I loved that. Although we have evolved into reading chapter books now, there are so many great children’s books that I found along the way that I want to hold on to. I thought I’d share some of the gems I discovered with you all here, since I know there are mama’s out there with kids young enough to sit on their lap and enjoy
