Why I wrote my first children’s book ever.

Why did I even do this? Here’s why… What Jake means to me. I wrote this book to say one thing: happiness can meet you anywhere. I really want kids to know that. I want grown ups to know that. I want myself to remember that. I want a book that I can pick up to remind me. You can invite happiness in to meet you right where you stand. Nothing needs to change at all. Joy can flow to you whether you live in a cage, in prison, in a diseased body, or are living your very last breath. […]

Thoughts on Health… why I’d take friendship over medical advice any day!

I was at the beach with two friends of mine, enjoying the late summer sun and playing in the waves with the kids. Unfortunately, I was also battling some horrible neck tenderness and muscle pain… I blog about that here. On this day in particular, the base of my skull hurt so badly I was having trouble just sitting up straight, talking, carrying on a normal conversation. Certainly wearing my hair back off my face in the sticky salty ocean breeze was unthinkable, the pain was too severe. My two friends were so amazingly kind and generous… with their empathy

Music and Our Souls

I was having a great conversation with my children over the weekend, and I had a wonderful thought. Okay, it might be a bit of a stretch, but I love the feeling I get when I think about it. And usually, if it makes me feel good, I can trust it. So, I think there may be some truth to this idea.     We were talking about how amazing and wonderful music is. And how much it lifts us throughout our day… singing a song while we wash our hands, humming a tune while we take a

Jake book now on Amazon!

Look what finally arrived in the mail! It’s been a loooong road writing, illustrating, and publishing my first children’s book. Proofing the book and finally getting it listed on Amazon. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and feel like I have a grasp of the enormous effort that goes into each book I’ve ever read. Especially all of our favorite children’s books I’ve read to my sweet little ones over the years. Reading this book feels so right. Jake is a tribute to my kids, my love for them, my hopes and dreams for their future, my love of

Laughing at my face

My kids are constantly breaking down my walls for me, and I feel like a newer, lighter human being because of their joy and love. Damn we are lucky to have our kids, aren’t we? Seeing the natural overwhelming beauty that my daughter possesses blows every other preconceived notion of “beauty” out of the water for me. Barbie doll? Ridiculous. Laughable to me, even. And here is how… My daughter takes one look at the towers of catalogs and models that wait for us each day in our mailbox… people who are so beautiful that they are getting paid for

Thoughts on Health… healing always comes from YOU

I am elbow deep working on several health collages… I’ve got some good ones for you, including the Immune System (thank you Gabrielle for the recommendation!)… Fibromyalgia… Ear… Eye… Knee and Hip… but none are ready to show you just yet. So in the meantime, I had a thought on health that I was discussing with my kids yesterday. I was out and about with them, driving in the car, and somehow we were talking about antibiotics. I made the point to them that antibiotics are not what heals you… the antibiotics work to slow down the replication process of

Through the front door

Look what blew in through my front door. Right in the middle of a busy day. Me, rushing around, bringing things in from the car, letting the dogs out, putting away all our shoes, recharging my cell phone… blah, blah blah… all the things you do in the first two minutes of getting home. I was just about to close and lock the front door, when I looked down. Sometimes it just takes a little nod from the universe to set my day right again. Love is all around… xoxo
