Pinterest Challenge #1: Girls Rule! (and everyone gets a Freebie!)

So on Monday we were talking about my last period — fun stuff, huh?   And I shared with you my two fav ways to deal with the nitty gritty of menstruation.     Then later that day I was on Pinterest (love it over in the fantastical world of Pinterest-land, don’t you?) and I had fun creating a Female Health Pinboard. Of course I included all my fav things like the Diva Cup… cloth pads… my female health eBook… some artwork and fun quotes… my fav organic perfume… my fav organic soap… chocolate covered strawberries… champagne… all kinds of …

If you subscribe to my all time fav magazine, MaryJanes Farm, and read the article MJF featured about me in the most recent issue, then I just want to give you a big welcome and hello for swinging by my website today! I was so thrilled to be featured on pages 10 – 14 of the Oct/Nov issue that just hit newsstands this week, speaking about the healing benefits of touching the earth. How Your Digestion is Linked To Your Emotions

Everybody already knows this… that digestion and emotions are directly linked. You know that sudden feeling when you are scared and you become instantly nauseous? As a mom I got that feeling all the time when my kids were younger and I lost sight of them for a moment in a public place. It’s a horrendous feeling… it doesn’t matter how hungry you were or how long since your last meal — in life-or-death situations, hunger immediately evaporates and the rest of your senses are heightened (heart pounding and ears and eyes on maximum alert) and you scan the crowd …

Tired? Why your sacral chakra needs your attention right now!

Last week I talked about the base chakra and the physical symptoms you might be feeling (and how to release them!) if you have base chakra issues. Today, let’s move on to our second chakra, the sacral chakra.   Patients who come to me feeling tired, in adrenal fatigue, burnt out, desiring more energy and missing that fresh spark of creativity they used to have are my second chakra peeps.   Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? horrible PMS, painful cramps or miserable perimenopausal symptoms infertility struggles low back pain sciatica pain chronic fatigue or loss of joyful energy …

Looking Deeply…

See Beyond The Surface… healing artwork   There really are two ways to look at everything, and the more I remember that the more flexible and kind and patient and loving I am able to be. So I created this artwork as a physical reminder. Literally ripping an old anatomy diagram of the eyeball out from my med school textbook, I left half the way they taught it. Cold and clinical. Can’t tell if the eyeball is a dead or living representation… just the mere facts. But then I added the energy, the life force to the second half… …

Medicine vs. Intuition…. Either/Or?

This arrived along with our usual jumble of medical journals and publications, and I was so excited: Intuition made the front cover!?!? How awesome is this! I opened it up, not caring if it were going to be a positive review of intuition in medicine or a negative one, just so glad there were going to be addressing the role of intuition in patient care at all!   Well, that was the error in my thinking, I suppose. It wasn’t a review of the role of intuition in patient care. It was completely and utterly about how using ICD coding …

How To Get The Best of Yeast

Yeast overgrowth is absolutely no fun. And it can really get worse in the warmer months as yeast love nothing more then moist, hot, sticky skin/mucosa to flourish on. I remember seeing a sweet older female patient that was absolutely miserable with Candida growth all over her skin… and it was particularly bad underneath her breasts where they touched her upper abdomen. Being that it was a particularly hot summer, she was hot and itchy and in her own personal hell! I was a bit more conventional back then, so I’m especially thinking of her as I type up this …
