Thoughts on Health… Fish Oil effective treatment for ADHD

My two sweetie pie children at the beach. Okay, this may be a stretch to include in the fish oil post, but hey… you know there are fish in this pic… and what else am I gonna use as a visual?   I feel like I am trapped in backwards world.   Honestly. We’ve known for quite a while that Omega 3 fatty acids are absolutely fabulous for the body… especially the brain… so you’d think this study, which shows Omega 3 supplementation is an effective treatment for ADHD, is no big surprise to the medical community.  Wrong. Fish […]

Grape Jelly Time

Around here in SC we are wrapping up grape picking season. You have another week or so to get yourself (and your kids!) out there picking the lovely muscadine grapes that are growing right on the vine. After you come home with them, you’ll want to be sure to make the easiest jelly on earth out of ’em. This is my favorite preserve to make, because there is no hulling, cutting, dicing, getting the seeds out, milling, peeling, etc… that comes along with strawberry jelly, apple jelly, cherry, etc. I guess it’s about equal to making my other favorite preserve,

Quote Splat #5… Forgiveness

Forgiving doesn’t erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future. – Lewis Smedes Forgiveness. It’s tough to seek out and it is sometimes tough to give. I still have events in my life that I ruminate about and wish I could erase, do over, rewind. The are stuck there. That’s why I love this quote. Forgiveness doesn’t have to erase what happened. In fact, it doesn’t. But this notion that something

Thoughts on Health FAQ: Uterine Prolapse… or “Thanks a lot, gravity!”

I’ve been asked about uterine prolapse multiple times over the past month or two, so I thought it would be a good topic for my blog. With all of the commercials out there asking you to sue your doctor if you’ve had a mesh implant… and all of the complications that can arise from the surgery, I wanted to share with you my advice for mild prolapse. Avoid surgery. That is my advice for sure. But what can you do to help with mild to moderate prolapse? Enter Jade and Pearl.   Jade and Pearl sell reusable sea pearls (all

Rainbow craft goodness

Last week, my children and I had fun working on a project I had seen all over the bloggersphere… in too many places to even credit (just google crayon art) it is all over Pinterest, StumbledUpon, and blogs galore.     Miles and Clara did an amazing job on theirs… so good I just have to frame and hang them! I just love these… somehow they combine the spirit of childhood with freedom and flow… melting crayons into something new, each one totally unique… it is just pure fun.   If you want to create your own this weekend,

Quote Splat #4

We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are. – Anais Nin         Okay, so this is my fourth favorite quote in the world. One I am still just barely beginning to grasp the enormous truth of, as I make my way through this life seeing it echo again and again and again. Both in my own self and in others. It’s just so beautiful and so true, in everything. In the way I see that people who truly feel good see so much good in others. In the way that every conflict
