Eco-friendly Christmas Tree Craft Tutorial, or… how to distract your kids while you get some stuff done around the house this holiday season

I can barely call this a tutorial because it is just gluing paper on a cone shape, but that is the genius of this sweet little craft. I first showed this post last Christmas, and as we pulled these trees out from storage this year my daughter begged to make more.  So see?  Even though it is soooo easy and barely requires five minutes of adult set up/supervision, it is something your kids will love, enjoy, and be proud of years later. If you need to get some stuff done around the house and need an easy distraction for the […]

Sometimes A Girl Needs To Feel Like A Girl!

As you know, I’m a natural kind of gal, and after struggling with not liking my hair all my life I have really enjoyed using henna for the past year to create shine and smoothness in my frizzy tangles. But you know what? As much as I love henna and will continue to use it as my fall back go-to conditioning glaze, I hadn’t had a *real* haircut, one in a salon, in a looooong time and I was feeling heavy and drab.       Lucky for me, right in my hometown a faboo new Aveda concept salon

My Favorite Winter Solstice tradition… releasing our dreams into the night

Last year I posted this celebration idea *after* Winter Solstice, which does you… dear reader… no good. So this year I wanted to post it the week before… it’s such a simple, easy, and sweet way to mark the darkest day with honor and a bit of candlelight. It is something my entire family looks forward to every year. This Winter Solstice we’ll be traveling, but I’m taking some slips of paper and a few matches so that we can create our sacred space wherever we are. I would love to know that a few of you are out there

Firestarter Tutorial

Temps are dipping into the cold near-freezing numbers at night here in SC, and instead of turning on my heat, we’ve been having lovely evening fires to heat the house. So that means, starting a fire.  Which can sometimes be frustrating, but not so when you have a fabbo, eco-friendly, completely free, made from stuff lying around your home fire starter on hand!   I originally published this tutorial last May, and I’ve been using my firestarters like crazy.  So I thought this would be the perfect time to re-post… enjoy!!! xoxo, Laura     Ready to get started? Thoughts On Health… Practicing what I preach

Hi my friends. Remember this video in which I discuss why symptoms and health challenges represent healing? I deeply believe this and had an opportunity to really practice what I preach recently, and I want to share that with you today. http://youtu.be/sY6FmkNc07M   For years and years I’ve struggled with my left tonsil getting chronically infected. Knowing that this was caused by an energy block in my throat chakra, I was excited to see what I could do to facilitate healing. I knew in my heart that when I healed this wound, I would be open and more free and

Thoughts On Health… Celebrate Becoming A Woman

The most special girl in the world, the most special girl in *my* world anyway… is now a young woman. She takes my breath away with how effortlessly she welcomed womanhood and menstruation into her life… she is healthy and radiant and I am the most lucky mama in the entire UNIVERSE to travel this road with her… watching her fly. We were heading out the door to spend a warm November day on the beach when she found out. Welcoming her transition with the calmly lapping waves and under the warm blessed sun just felt so right. Oh I

Cold Relief Kit

I recently cleaned out my bathroom cabinets, and got them stocked and ready for this fall and winter. Fresh coconut oil for chapped winter skin, Vitamin D and fish oil and Vitamin C supplements to boost our immune system… and THESE indispensible products from Lana Bella:       My favorite soaps on earth. I love them so much, I’ve blogged about them before. Lots of hand washing throughout the cold and flu season is the #1 thing you can do to protect yourself from getting sick. I believe it is more important than supplements, then a flu shot, then
