Thoughts on health… the creative process aint always pretty.

Hi! I spent a good portion of the weekend having fun with my paints and papers and favorite quotes for a set of artwork I’m creating called Quote Splat. For no other reason then I woke up one day and decided to write down my top 10 favorite quotes of all time and illustrate them. I’m going to start showing them to you every Wednesday starting this Wednesday and giving them away each week for free! Because creating anything… whether it is art or a meal or a new way to help your loved ones laugh or a […]

Recipe: Organic Marinara Sauce from your backyard

Well, not exactly from *my* backyard… more like from my local farmer’s backyard. As you all know, the tomatoes in my own yard didn’t take off much this year. We had a lovely crop (and it’s still coming!) which gave us enough tomatoes for fresh salads and straight eating this summer, but not enough of a crop for me to can them into sauce. Knowing this, my hubby came home one night after work with three huge baskets full of local fresh tomatoes from John’s Island… Now if you are smarter than me, you will not begin to make

What it feels like to go back Home.

So I was telling my kids about my recent trip out of the Universe… how it felt so light and expansive to reach past the confines of our universe… and my daughter instantly knew what I was trying to say.   “It reminds me of how I feel when I am swimming. I am holding my breath underwater, and as I come up to the surface, I break through the top and take a big free breath. It feels amazing,” Clara said.   Holy. Crap. YES!   This is what took me paragraph after paragraph to try to explain on

My trip outside of the Universe (warning… gotta suspend judgment to make it through this post!)

You might have to bear with me for this post. I feel like I’m taking a risk sharing this with you here… not the typical blog post you might expect from a rational sane educated woman… so be kind to me here. I just feel moved to share with you this crazy daydream I had. You could call it a vision… a trip outside of the Universe. No drugs involved, I swear. What got me there was love. Pure love! Let me explain: I was driving with my kids and listening to music and hearing them chat back and

Lessons from my kids… Intention

For some reason, my kids decided one day that they wanted to cook dinner for us. They’ve never cooked anything before… and they didn’t want me in the room AT ALL. Yikes! Stoves! Ovens! Knives! But I said yes, trusting that they would come to me for help if they needed anything, anything at all, and knowing I would be listening intently from the next room. I started giving them kid-friendly cook books and ideas, which they promptly rejected, grabbing instead all of my adult cookbooks and running off to plan. Wouldn’t even tell me what they were making,

Guest post… Organic Make Up (or, what I use for my oily eyelids, but that just doesn’t sound right…)

Alison Price is stopping by my blog again today to tell us a little about why her make-up line is so awesome. She runs Organic Glow.com, which features the certified organic product range Miessence. I knew the products were awesome from the ingredient lists I’ve checked out… but I have to say, I’ve tried other mineral make ups and not fully enjoyed them. So I was a bit leary to try the loose powder, because I’ve had such bad experiences in the past with the powder settling into my expression lines and fine lines around my eyes… I usually wind
