Part 2 — Behind the scenes on The Grounded

The third and final day of filming last week was my favorite.   That’s because I got to meet with some of the most inspiring people I have ever met from across the country — on top of the wonderful, sincere and innovative director Steve Kroschel, I met with world-renowned cardiac specialist and holistic physician Dr. Stephen Sinatra, MD and Earthing guru and founder of Simply Vibrant, Dr. Christy Westen, DC   (To see candid still shots from the first movie filming session back in April, click here (with Apollo astronauts Charlie Duke and Edgar Mitchell.) And to see more …

Preventing Alzheimers…

(We saw this double rainbow out of our window when we were driving in the rain a few weeks ago… my hubby was driving and I snapped this blurry pic to capture the magic!) Alzheimers runs on one side of my family, so this is a topic very near and dear to my heart. I’d like to do whatever I can while I am still mid-life to protect my brain as much as possible from developing this devastating disease. Thankfully there are some very simple things you can do to boost your brain’s health and help ward off Alzheimers. …

Inspiration Wednesdays… I shredded my old anatomy textbook and came up with this instead!

Okay, maybe I didn’t shred it… more like tore it apart. I created several new works of art out of it, and wanted to share the first one with you here:       I had so much fun with this artwork… I literally ripped out the page from my old anatomy textbook and painted in the new *reality* that I have discovered is the true secret to health. Being a physician it is so interesting for me to look back and reflect on what we were taught as impressionable young students in medical school… the model for disease and …

Thoughts On Health… Eat Your Bacteria!

Hello folks! I hope you are having a great fall so far! I thought I’d do a round-up for you on my favorite way to get my probiotic cultures in. And in my kids. Yes, yogurt has probiotics, but unless you select one that specifically states the amount of probiotic cultures it has on the label, the amount of probiotics you are getting from regular yogurt is really small. At the very beginning of the probiotic trend, I resisted. First of all, I *gasp* actually hate yogurt. My kids and hubby like it but I seriously have to force it …

Thoughts On Health… Excercise (dang!)

Oh how I have fallen. I am completely out of my exercise routine… I manage to work in an at-home 20 minute Yoga DVD about twice a week and those 40 minutes, my friend, is the total sum of my exercising attempts lately. At first I told myself it’s okay because I’m young and can get it all back. Hmmm. I think I still can but it’s going to be harder to re-capture my cardiovascular fitness now then it used to be, so instead of maintaining health I will have to re-build it. Bummer.   Then I told …

More good news for your Monday Morning…

If you are like me you love coffee. I mean everything about it… the smell… the taste… the warmth… Likewise for tea. I just love it! Chai lattes being my favorite, but cinnamon, earl grey, camomile, peppermint… love them all. Besides all of the recent good press coffee has been getting on all fronts (anti-depressant, exercise adjunctive, antioxidant…) and all of the good press that tea has always gotten (antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-cancer, etc…) they are both being lauded now for something else… reducing the over all incidence of MRSA. MRSA is a much feared pathogen in our society, …

Thoughts on Health… Finding your Equilibrium During Fall

Ahhh… fall. How I love you. The cooler mornings. The walks outside. Leaves swirling through the air. Loading up on firewood for the winter. My children laughing as they swing, run, play, spend more time outside than ever before. Oh, but how you hold a dark secret inside of you. You don’t fool me for one instant… I know that the cooler mornings and campfire evenings are possible because of your tilt away from the sun… and how the days are now shorter than the nights, until they are so brief we wake up to darkness and eat …
