Time In the Sun Actually Increases Your Life Span… Here’s How To Do It Safely

A recent medical study, published in the Journal of Internal Medicine, found that folks who avoided sun exposure actually had a shorter life span… …with a decreased life expectancy that was shorter than even heavy smokers who bathed in the sun. What?!?! Yes.   This was a huge study looked at almost 30,000 participants over a span of 20 years. Researchers tracked health outcomes and life span over two decades and found that even when smoking was factored in, the life span of those who avoided the sun was over 2 years shorter than heavy smokers who got the highest […]

Going From Surviving To Thriving After Cancer

One year ago today I almost died. My appendix acutely ruptured and I went into shock. I was rushed into surgery and my surgeon said I was about 2 hours away from things being very dicey with survival. Thank God, truly, for advancements in modern medicine such that they could save my life that day.   That said, what modern medicine has not quite figured out as well, is how to maintain or boost wellness. Or how to recover wellness after a major medical crisis. After surgery I had one follow up appointment where they made sure I was

On the heels of the largest cell phone study ever conducted, which I blog about here, I wanted to create a quick video giving you some easy, actionable ways to decrease your radiation exposure while still having access to your cell phone when you need to use it. I know I rely on my cell phone on a daily basis both personally and professionally… so I know that giving up my cell phone is not a realistic answer for me. Aspirin Prevents Cancer… But There Is A Much Safer Way

Yet another study reports that long term aspirin use is associated with a reduced risk of death from all causes… …and specifically a reduced risk of death from cancer.   Remember when I blogged about this back in August 2014? The study at that time reported a 30% — 35% reduction in the risk of developing colorectal cancer, a 25% reduction in the risk of developing esophageal and stomach cancers, and smaller risk reduction in the other cancer categories (prostate, lung, breast.) The latest study back this finding up, finding a 7% reduction in mortality from all causes put together

Hand Sanitizers Linked To Thyroid Cancer — Here’s Your Safer Alternative

Thyroid disorders affect 20 million Americans alone… and metabolic and growth issues affect countless more.  How many of you use hand sanitizers at least occasionally to clean your hands? Turns out, this is a problem for our thyroid glands. And not just for women…  in fact, the hormone disruption that hand sanitizers have on our bodies is three times more devastating to men! We’ve known for a long time that the chemicals in hand sanitizers are unhealthy, and also drying and irritating to skin.  Unfortunately a new study now links them to cancer… raising (even tripling!) your risk of thyroid

Lithium Decreases Cancer Risk

A new study links lithium — the gold standard treatment for bipolar disorder — with a significant reduction in cancer risk. Not only that, but the reduced risk of cancer was found to be dose dependent… …meaning patients who took higher doses of lithium had even greater reduction in cancer rates than those who took lower doses. The Study (published in the British Journal of Psychiatry July, 2016):   Researchers followed over 4,700 patients with bipolar disorder, categorizing them as using lithium only, a different medication only (the anticonvulsant valproate) or both medications together. Researchers followed these patients for over
