7 Ways To Turn Winter Solstice Into A One Day Health Reset, Which Do You Choose?

This weekend brings us the winter solstice (and honestly thank goodness because for my sanity I really need the days to start getting longer again) and the darkest day of the year should naturally be a time of hibernation and restoration… i.e. the best quality sleep of the year. Sleep is so important to your long term well being that you literally can’t live without it… sleep is non-negotiable and absolutely essential for longevity. And the good news is, that no matter how bad your sleep is right now, you are only ever one night away from a good […]

Your Body Is Almost Entirely Made Out Of Stars, Here’s How To Celebrate It

As a physician, every single cell in our body is literally like a miracle to me.  How it functions, replicates, repairs, lives, dies, replaces.  The fact that our skin is self healing, our bones fuse back together, we breathe and our heart beats while we use our body to do other things all day long without even thinking about it, how we create life, how little humans grow within us and are born. The fact that all of it, almost every bit of it, comes from cosmic dust and stars — it’s all just so damn magical.  We

Thoughts On Health… Celebrate Becoming A Woman

The most special girl in the world, the most special girl in *my* world anyway… is now a young woman. She takes my breath away with how effortlessly she welcomed womanhood and menstruation into her life… she is healthy and radiant and I am the most lucky mama in the entire UNIVERSE to travel this road with her… watching her fly. We were heading out the door to spend a warm November day on the beach when she found out. Welcoming her transition with the calmly lapping waves and under the warm blessed sun just felt so right. Oh I

Happy Halloween

Thoughts On Health will be on Wednesday this week, because today we’ll be busy…   …snacking on these…     I toast these from the pumpkins we carve… seasoning them with lots of cayenne pepper, some garlic, paprika and salt, then 5 minutes in a 450 degree oven and you arrive at YUM!   … drying and saving these for our garden next year…   just dry your pumpkin and squash seeds for two weeks on a towel (flipping once) then store in an airtight container for planting next year! Check out my Saving Seeds tutorial for more info
