Medical Proof That Spirituality Matters

A recent medical study looked at the effect of spirituality and religion on quality of life in cancer patients.   Participants could be spiritual, religious, both or none. Scientists wanted to look at what effect, if any, spirituality and religiosity had on patient outcomes, and if being religious worked synergistically with spirituality or independently from it.     Over 550 patients were entered into this study, all were cancer patients undergoing treatment for various cancers… these patients were followed for one year and were assessed for quality of life. Turns out, religious patients had better quality of life if they …

A Healing Prayer For You

My daughter is 12. She is unique and wonderful and spiritual and wise. Instead of playing around with make up and talking on the phone and rolling her eyes if I ask her to put away her clothes, like I did at her age, she writes novels and reads historical fiction and studies religion and creates beautiful things with her pen, drawings and artwork and prayers.   Like this prayer.   She wrote this and from the first moment I read it, I knew I wanted to incorporate this prayer into my work with my own patients.   Now, it …

And yet, through this journey Michael feels alive, he feels love, and he understands more deeply than most of us that emotions are all interconnected… and …

My Favorite Winter Solstice tradition… releasing our dreams into the night

Last year I posted this celebration idea *after* Winter Solstice, which does you… dear reader… no good. So this year I wanted to post it the week before… it’s such a simple, easy, and sweet way to mark the darkest day with honor and a bit of candlelight. It is something my entire family looks forward to every year. This Winter Solstice we’ll be traveling, but I’m taking some slips of paper and a few matches so that we can create our sacred space wherever we are. I would love to know that a few of you are out there …

Goddess at High Tide

Goddess at High Tide 11 x 14 inch gallery wrapped canvas with finished sides Available as Giclee prints as well as the original canvas The second in my new Goddess series, this has become one of my two ultimate favorite paintings I’ve ever painted. My other favorite is Nighttime Reunion… that one just rolled off my brush. This one… not so much. This painting was a labor of love. It took about three times longer to paint then I had anticipated… I got an immediate vision and knew exactly what I wanted to paint… yet actually painting it was a …
