A Few Extra Pounds Helps You Survive Infections

Ebola has been front page news all summer, so you would think this recent medical study would be as well…   …but instead, this study on surviving overwhelming infection remains largely hidden.     Of course, anything that shows there is a WIDE diversity to “healthy weight” — that there is a reality so much wider than the current definitions of under weight, “normal” weight, over weight, mild and severe obesity — is hidden by the media.   That makes sense, as the weight loss industry is a 20 BILLION dollar industry IN THE UNITED STATES ALONE!!! So, of course […]

A New Way For Me To Support You Directly

I’ve been asked repeatedly by both patients and online class participants to have a way to continue getting unlimited email support from me even after our live or online work has concluded. To this, I say YES!   I love my patients and I love emailing them and being able to respond instantaneously to their health care concerns, changing life situations, and daily journey.   I know that it’s not always possible or practical to schedule in frequent phone consultations and sometimes folks really want a connection and support from me more often than is possible with consultation plans.

Anti-Aging… My Top Recommendations

Recently I got an email from a lovely soul enrolled in my Unlimited Email Plan… …She wanted to know what I recommended for Anti-Aging. Wow… that’s a big topic!   So, I thought I’d share some of my approach with you on the blog today in the hopes that you might get a fresh idea or two to incorporate into your day.   Generally for anti-aging there are three angles you could focus on:   1 — skin (yes it’s superficial but still important and young skin just feels so lovely!) 2 — body/internal health and 3 — the mind.

Evidence That Pesticides Increase Alzheimers Risk

New evidence shows that having measurable levels of pesticide metabolites in your blood increases your risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 400%.   Published on January 27, 2014 in JAMA Neurology, a new study shows that high levels of DDE (a metabolic by-product of notorious pesticide DDT) in the body was found to cause a 4-fold increase in Alzheimers Disease risk. This study confirms that if there are serum levels of DDE in your blood (from pesticide exposure) this is crossing your blood-brain barrier and directly affecting your brain.   Even though DDT was banned in the United States in 1972,

Why Allergies Might Help You Live Longer

A new study suggests that folks with allergic rhinitis are more likely to outlive the rest of us.   Allergic rhinitis patients have a decreased risk of heart attack, a decreased risk of stroke and over all a significantly decreased risk of all-cause mortality!   “They were basically half as likely to die during the study period,” says Dr. Crans Yoon, after looking at a database of over 200,000+ allergic rhinitis patients and following those patients for a 7 year period.   Presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology 2014 conference, Dr. Yoon found that people who
