Check Your Pits & Your Feet: 2 Easy Ways To Prep For A Healthy Spring

Is it heating up where you live? It’s warming up here, and as I got sweaty doing some spring gardening this weekend, it reminded me to put out my annual blog post urging you not to use antiperspirants.   Many of my readers don’t use anti-perspirant, but they do use a deodorant. So today I want to urge you to also double check that your deodorant is paraben free too, or it’s not much better than an anti-perspirant. Here’s why:       Our armpits are not only covered in fully absorptive skin just like the rest of our […]

Aspirin Prevents Cancer… But There Is A Much Safer Way

Yet another study reports that long term aspirin use is associated with a reduced risk of death from all causes… …and specifically a reduced risk of death from cancer.   Remember when I blogged about this back in August 2014? The study at that time reported a 30% — 35% reduction in the risk of developing colorectal cancer, a 25% reduction in the risk of developing esophageal and stomach cancers, and smaller risk reduction in the other cancer categories (prostate, lung, breast.) The latest study back this finding up, finding a 7% reduction in mortality from all causes put together

The Study:   Researchers examined date from over 90,000 premenopausal female patients (ages 27 – 44 years old) Over 44,000 patients reported

Fasting To Decrease Cancer Recurrence

Recently published on March 31, 2016 in JAMA Oncology, new evidence supports the idea that fasting at night reduces the risk of cancer recurrence.   Every night as we sleep we all enter a mini-fasting period before we *break-the-fast* with breakfast each morning. Prolonging the amount of time spent fasting — skipping evening snacks all together and fasting for 13+ hours each night — reduced the risk of breast cancer according to a study that spanned thousands of patients followed for over a decade.   Simply taking care to eat an early dinner and not eating again until breakfast (for
