Pinterest Challenge #1: Girls Rule! (and everyone gets a Freebie!)

So on Monday we were talking about my last period — fun stuff, huh?   And I shared with you my two fav ways to deal with the nitty gritty of menstruation.     Then later that day I was on Pinterest (love it over in the fantastical world of Pinterest-land, don’t you?) and I had fun creating a Female Health Pinboard. Of course I included all my fav things like the Diva Cup… cloth pads… my female health eBook… some artwork and fun quotes… my fav organic perfume… my fav organic soap… chocolate covered strawberries… champagne… all kinds of …

Creativity = Health

In honor of the second chakra this week, I am sharing with you an article I once wrote for a feature on Art Snark’s blog many years ago. I still love it and it holds true! How The Simple Act Of Creating Must Create Physical Health I took the scenic route in becoming an artist. The really looooong way around. The kind of path that took me through medical school, residency, and a bit of clinical practice as a physician before I had children and realized my heartsong was to be a mommy and an artist. That kind of long …

Tired? Why your sacral chakra needs your attention right now!

Last week I talked about the base chakra and the physical symptoms you might be feeling (and how to release them!) if you have base chakra issues. Today, let’s move on to our second chakra, the sacral chakra.   Patients who come to me feeling tired, in adrenal fatigue, burnt out, desiring more energy and missing that fresh spark of creativity they used to have are my second chakra peeps.   Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? horrible PMS, painful cramps or miserable perimenopausal symptoms infertility struggles low back pain sciatica pain chronic fatigue or loss of joyful energy …

Get Unstuck: an idea list!

Needing to break free from the same routine happens to all of us. As I wrote about on Monday, it’s important to keep your mind fresh and open to new ways of thinking. Here are my favorite ways to break free of a slump when I find myself in a rut:   Challenge my thinking… returning to a natural state of wonder (here is a video I made for more info on that…)     2. De-clutter… when I start taking on too much in my life, my office and living spaces reflect that. Often spending a day or a …

There are always two ways to think…

  This “Think Differently” altered text page was so much fun for me to create. I took my old medical school anatomy lab textbook and spent the day marking up the pages with paint and inks. In the following weeks I’ll share with you several others I created… but they all make the same point: life isn’t linear and we don’t need to pretend that it is! There really are two ways to look at everything… unfortunately we only learn about the surface facts in medical school. We are tested on the labels and names of each part of the …

Earthing Goes Mainstream

  Have you picked up your spring issue of First for Women? I am so happily surprised that such a mainstream article carried my earthing recommendation in the March issue!   Under the article “Headache Remedies Doctors Swear By,” I am quoted in the first recommendation. In it, I recommend contacting the earth with your barefeet for 10 minutes to reduce or allieviate headaches. Woot! Woot!         I’m just thrilled this holistic advice had the chance to reach millions of folks who might not otherwise be seeking out alternative ideas. Yay to the power of a cheap …
