Medical Proof That Spirituality Matters

A recent medical study looked at the effect of spirituality and religion on quality of life in cancer patients.   Participants could be spiritual, religious, both or none. Scientists wanted to look at what effect, if any, spirituality and religiosity had on patient outcomes, and if being religious worked synergistically with spirituality or independently from it.     Over 550 patients were entered into this study, all were cancer patients undergoing treatment for various cancers… these patients were followed for one year and were assessed for quality of life. Turns out, religious patients had better quality of life if they […]

Why Modern Medicine Is So Limited

The entire model of medicine is backwards and needs a major re-do.   The way the current medical model is set up is to test and report the outcome of a medication or surgery or intervention in the scientific literature, and to use these statistics as the standard of care.   I’m very familiar with the scientific method of research not only through my medical practice keeping abreast of the current scientific literature to update my own practice guidelines…   …but also because for my entire life I’ve been the daughter of one of the lead scientists at the

Life After Loss… Miscarriage Support

In keeping with last week’s post about my own personal grieving process, today I’ve invited a very soulful, brave and honest woman to stop by my blog and share her own, similar-but-different experience with grieving. For Catherine Keating, loss came in the form of miscarriage. Twice. Finding a path back from grief into gratitude, from sorrow to strength involved writing a book. Reading There Was Supposed To Be A Baby was so beautiful for me because it echoed so many of the same tools I was using in my own healing process… all outlined in one supportive, gentle, pure, raw

Behind The Scenes: Painting A Motion Picture Soundtrack

I recently had the honor of painting the cover of The Grounded motion picture soundtrack. Today I’m taking you behind-the-scenes to show you the process of painting the front cover, and next week I’ll do take you through the painting of the back cover.   The music for the film is spectacular… it is an original score created by master composer Stuart Mitchell and preformed by the Czech Filmharmonic Orchestra. Considering the music is one of the very best parts of the entire movie, it was quite an honor for my artwork to be considered for the cover.   Ready

Inspiration For Your Journey Today

I am so blessed to receive emails from a dear soul named Michael.   Michael lives across the ocean from me yet speaks right to the heart of things so clearly that I feel as if he is standing right next to me.   Michael knows about big transitions, about pain, about suffering… and because of this he knows a lot about joy, and love, and interconnection.   You see, Michael has inoperable cancer. And yet, through this journey Michael feels alive, he feels love, and he understands more deeply than most of us that emotions are all interconnected… and

3 Easy Ways to Heal Your Root Chakra

On Monday I gave examples of how you may be feeling and what health issues may be a concern for you if you have a first chakra imbalance.   Today — let’s launch right into some of the solutions. Your old theme was “needing to control circumstances to feel safe.”   Your new theme? Focusing on feeling connected at all times. It goes like this: “I am connected, therefore I AM SAFE. I am lovingly held by not only the people and relationships in my life but also more deeply by the earth as it supports our growth and

Thoughts On Health… Crossing Over

“Moving On” There is a special kind of sweetness that comes when someone you love has passed away but you know they are re-joining their soulmate who awaits them. This has happened to me twice in the past six months… I’ve felt a very definite *relief* and deep joy mixed into the sadness and mucky human emotions that death brings up. It’s as though I can feel the joy that this person has in being once again hand-in-hand with the spouse that they missed so much. I get a feeling that they are not looking back as much as folks
